Medical team eyes pacesetter for industry-university-research integration of respiratory diseases

A special communication session on the industry-university-research integration work of the Guangzhou Medical University Zhong Nanshan Team was held in Guangzhou on May 15.

The session was attended by Zhong Nanshan, a famous Chinese pulmonologist and director of the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases, Liu Yuelun, chairman of the CPPCC Guangzhou Committee, Guangzhou Vice Mayor Wang Dong, and other company representatives and officials.

During the meeting, a number of achievements made by the Guangzhou Medical University Zhong Nanshan Team in the respiratory health field were presented and several cooperative projects were signed, including a 1-billion-yuan ($160 million) project to build an industrial base for respiratory disease vaccines, an R&D alliance for the prevention and control of respiratory diseases in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, a cooperative project involving food for special medical purposes, and the establishment of an industrial innovation center for respiratory system health.

Currently, the Zhong Nanshan Team has set up a range of affiliated companies involved in precision medicine, a functional nutrition research center, a medical apparatus center, an innovative medical diagnosis center, and an innovative medical research center. It aims to be China's pacesetter for industry-university-research integration of respiratory system diseases.
