Latvia, a country in Northeast Europe, opened a shop to sell its local products in the Raffles City shopping complex in Ningbo, Zhejiang province on May 15.
Latvia is the guest country of honor at the 4th China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo (China-CEEC Expo) which is scheduled to take place in Ningbo from June 7 to 10 this year. The expo is the first comprehensive exposition themed on investment and trade between China and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries.
The shop featuring Latvian goods is part of the guest country of honor activities of the expo. Ningbo residents are able to find exotic food and handicrafts there, including honey beer, canned tuna and various kinds of chocolates. The shop will be in operation until June 5.
In recent years, Ningbo and Latvia have strongly promoted exchanges and cooperation in government communication, trade and commerce, education, culture and tourism.
In 2014, Ningbo and Ventsplis, a city situated on the western coast of Latvia, became sister cities. Two years later, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia set up an office in Ningbo. In 2017, the trade value between Ningbo and the European country reached $120 million, a year-on-year increase of 18.2 percent.
Latvia is an active participator in China's Belt and Road Initiative and China-CEEC ties. This year, as the guest country of honor, it will organize a series of activities in Ningbo in the coming days, including meetings on entrepreneurship, logistics and transportation, as well as exhibitions on different topics.
