A signing ceremony to promote the coordinated and high-quality development of Hohhot, Baotou and Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region was held in Baotou on May 15.
Mayors of the three cities agreed to develop new engines for growth for their respective jurisdictions.
Feng Yuzhen, mayor of Hohhot said that the city has continued to promote infrastructure integration to achieve interconnected development.
He explained that Hohhot would introduce a series of policies on industrial cooperation, ecological management, innovation-driven strategy, and infrastructure development to facilitate the coordinated development of Hohhot, Baotou and Ordos.
Hohhot will also extend its high-speed rail network to major cities around the country, Feng added.
Baotou Mayor Zhao Jiangtao hailed the city's recent improvements to its environment.
The city aims to work out a program to tackle air pollution in Hohhot and Ordos, said Zhao, speaking at the ceremony.
He added that Baotou also looked forward to linking with Hohhot and Ordos in areas like vocational education and industry integration.
Siqinbilige, mayor of Ordos, suggested that the three cities should strengthen construction of infrastructure to support the industrial chains in the area.
He expressed his view that administrative examinations and approval procedures should be eased to attract highly-skilled workers to the three cities.
