Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region marked progress in its tourism industry with tourism revenues reaching 465 million yuan ($73.2 million) during the three-day holiday period from April 29 to May 1, according to Baotou Daily.
The figure represented year-on-year growth of 22.4 percent.
The city received 894,000 tourists during the three-day holiday period, year-on-year growth of 17.6 percent.
Visitors mainly took part in short tours of the local area, with stops at major tourist attractions such as Wudang Lamasery, Meidai Monastery, Chilechuan scenic area, Nanhai Wetland scenic area and Shimen scenic area.
A variety of activities were organized to encourage the growth of the tourism industry, including tourism festivals and temple fairs.
