The unveiling ceremony of the School of International Studies of Shanxi University was held on May 7, during the celebration of the 116th anniversary of the establishment of the university.
The attendees included Yu Hongjun, former deputy director of the International Department of CPC Central Committee; Wang Genhua, counselor of the Policy Planning Department of China's Foreign Ministry; Sun Shixin, deputy director of Shanxi Education Department; Qin Yaqing, dean of China Foreign Affairs University.
Jia Suotang, chancellor of Shanxi University, presided over the ceremony. The School of International Studies was initiated by Li Shaoxian, a distinguished alumnus of the university and an expert specializing in Middle East affairs, mentioned Shi Shuai, secretary of Shanxi University Party Committee.
"It has powered up the development of Shanxi University to build national-level advanced curriculums, and will provide intellectual support and talent cultivation for our province to build a new height of openness, especially in inland areas," added Shi.
The school is expected to cultivate all-round diplomatic talent to involve in the strategic decision making and planning at home and abroad in the future. In addition, it will promote the influence of Shanxi University in domestic and international academic research in regards to affairs and policies.
