Five overseas travel experts began a six-day trip to three cities in East China's Jiangsu province on May 3, eager to "experience life by the water" in Wuxi.
Wuxi, known as the Pearl of Taihu Lake, sits beside the celebrated lake in southeast Jiangsu. The Nanjing-Shanghai Railway and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal both pass through the city, which hosts textile, metallurgy, machine construction and light industry hubs. Dominated by Taihu Lake, Wuxi is considered a town of great natural beauty.

The international travelers visited various famous Wuxi attractions, including the ancient town of Dangkou, Turtle Head Isle scenic area, Xihui Park and Jichang Park, one of the top 10 gardens in China. Visiting from the United States, Brazil, Italy and Russia, the travelers shared their views of the beautiful water town.
At Turtle Head Isle Scenic Area, they enjoyed Pingtan, a Chinese folk opera, and appreciated the ancient, graceful art of stories told to music. The travelers also tried their hand at making traditional crafts, including Wuxi Embroidery and Huishan purple clay figurines.
Having enjoyed Wuxi's scenery, the travelers all said they would recommend the charming city to their friends. The five also visited Nanjing, exploring the past and present of the historical capital of Jiangsu province.
As one of the birthplaces of ancient Chinese civilization, Jiangsu has a storied, rich culture. The travel event was an opportunity to promote the province internationally and so attract more foreign visitors to the area.
