Shenzhen, a beautiful southern Chinese metropolis, hosted nearly 1.6 million tourists during the three-day Labor Day holiday, up 2.49 percent year on year. Tourists contributed a whopping 1.6 billion yuan ($250 million) to the local economy, an increase of 6.35 percent compared with the same period last year.

Unlike previous years, this Labor Day holiday saw more tourist traffic to the city's suburban areas, local rural villages and towns with a healthy environment. Famous attractions in Shenzhen continue to enjoy high popularity, with key scenic spots such as Happy Valley, Window of the World and Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town East having hosted a combined total of more than 800,000 tourists during the three days.
According to statistics from Shenzhen's park management center, over 2.53 million tourists flocked to parks across the city during the three-day holiday.

Shenzhen Bay Park, with Shenzhen Bay Coastal Recreation Zone located on its southwestern edge and Hongshulin Coastal Ecological Park in the eastern section of the park, was the most popular park among travelers, receiving 202,000 visitors at its peak on May 1.
During the Labor Day holiday, more than 147 million domestic visits were made in China, a 9.3 percent increase year on year. The holiday has brought 87.16 billion yuan to the country's economy, an increase of 10.2 percent compared with last year.
