Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU), one of China's eight foremost higher education institutions engaged in foreign languages, is a multidisciplinary university with foreign language & literature as the predominant discipline.
Today's TFSU has two campuses, the Machangdao campus and the Binhai campus, covering an area of approximately 70 hectares. The Machangdao campus lies in the city's iconic Wudadao tourist area and a number of buildings inside it are rated as Historical Heritage Architecture. The Binhai campus, sitting in the ecologically friendly University Complex in Dagang District, Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA), boasts picturesque scenery.
TFSU offers 39 BA programs, 26 MA programs (22 academic and four professional) in 17 research orientations, and one doctoral program in the discipline of foreign language & literature with translating from Chinese into foreign languages as the research orientation. The university is entitled to accept domestic visiting scholars, and the doctoral Program, in particular, accepts young backbone scholars and other scholars from higher education institutions in China.
The university also boasts one State-level teaching team, four State-level majors with distinctive features, one State-level pilot project of comprehensive reform on undergraduate education, two State-level top-quality courses, and one State-level top-quality resources sharing course.
Currently, TFSU has an enrollment of over 12,000 full-time degree candidates from 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions of the country. Following the university's motto, it devotes itself to nurturing well-rounded, high quality interdisciplinary talents with strong abilities of self-directed learning and intercultural communication. The university makes great efforts to provide an education featuring "major + foreign language", with a view to producing talents with solid professional knowledge and strong foreign language competency.
