Tai'an receives more visitors during May Day holiday

The 20 major scenic spots of Tai'an, Shandong province received a total of 776,700 tourists and a gross income of 57.71 million yuan (about $9.07 million) during the three-day May Day holiday, according to statistics from the Tai'an municipal tourism bureau.

About 183,000 tourists visited the Mount Tai Scenic Area during the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 40.18 percent. The total revenue was 13.02 million yuan, an increase of 21.39 percent compared with the same period last year.

To attract more tourists, 60 more varied activities and special offers were organized and provided by the city's major scenic areas and rural tourist spots during the holiday.

The 2018 Dongyue Temple Fair revealed the charm of Mount Tai culture through 25 thematic activities. The Tianyi Lake Tourist Resort Area hosted a large-scale music festival and the Fantawild Adventure held fantasy late-night shows.

A series of rural tourism activities was also launched to promote the development of the countryside, like the rose festival held in Jianyun Mountain Scenic Area and the Sophora Flower Festival in Niushan Mountain Scenic Area.
