Energy and environmental protection equipment industry

Guangzhou has comparative advantages in nuclear power manufacturing, biomass power generation, waste incineration and the production of electricity and frequency equipment. It is also strong in the treatment of industrial wastewater and the manufacturing of related equipment. It is home to a number of key manufacturers of new-energy products, such as Oriental Heavy Machinery, Guangri Group and Zhiguang Electric.

Zengcheng Solar Photovoltaic Industrial Park, Nansha Nuclear Power Equipment Industrial Park, and Guangzhou Panyu Energy-saving Science & Technology Park are crucial to the development of new energy as well as energy-saving and environmental protection industries. Investment in wind and nuclear power equipment manufacturing will be encouraged so as to form an industrial cluster of wind and nuclear power plant equipment, mainly electrical equipment. Solar photovoltaic power, biomass energy, geothermal energy and equipment manufacturing will be promoted, so as to facilitate the popularization and application of new energy technologies and products.

As for the energy-saving and environmental protection industry, enterprises will be encouraged to participate in the development and application of energy-efficient appliances, lighting appliances and energy-saving building materials. Efforts will also be made to develop and apply advanced environmental technologies designed to prevent water pollution, air contamination, noise, heavy metal pollution and trash, as well as to facilitate the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste.
