Guangzhou's agricultural industry saw a total income of 191.2 billion yuan ($30.2 billion) in 2017, up 0.5 percent year on year. The total output of the urban agricultural industry reached 138.7 billion yuan, up 0.4 percent. The city has become home to 133 leading agricultural companies above municipal-level, six of which are leading national agricultural companies and 38 are leading provincial-level agricultural companies.
Total grain production in Guangzhou dropped to 273,400 tons in 2017, a decline of 37.4 percent year on year. Vegetable production stood at 3.84 million tons, up 2.6 percent year on year. The turnover for Guangzhou’s flower industry reached 5 billion yuan, up 19 percent from 2016, and fruit production reached 528,100 tons, up 6.7 percent.

Meat production in Guangzhou during the past year reached 192,200 tons, with pork and poultry accounting for 33.5 percent and 65.4 percent of the total, respectively.
Land used for grain planting in Guangzhou fell to 56,000 hectares in 2017, a decline of 36.8 percent year on year, while land used for vegetable planting rose to 151,000 hectares, up 3.6 percent compared with 2016. Land reserved for the planting of sugarcane and oil plants covered 7,270 hectares and 6,280 hectares, respectively.
