The city's new materials industry has seen fast growth, and a complete industry chain that primarily includes bio-medicine, e-information, new energy, construction energy conservation, and modified polymers has appeared. Emerging sub-industries including metamaterials, aerospace materials, and graphene materials are also developmental focal points.
In 2015, Shenzhen's new materials industry's added value was 32.924 billion yuan, up 11.3 percent year on year. Shenzhen's main industrial zones/parks for the new materials industry include the Guangming Electronic Communication Materials and Pingshan Power Cell Materials Centers. Some of the better known Shenzhen-based new materials enterprises include CSG Holding Co., Ltd., the Kuang-Chi Institute of Advanced Technology and BTR.
