The seventh Liaoning province National Reading Festival opened at China Medical University in Shenyang, Liaoning’s provincial capital, on April 23.
The festival will last until the end of June.
Fan Weiping, director of Liaoning’s propaganda department, addressed the opening ceremony, pointing out that national reading festival helps residents cultivate habits of reading and learning, through which they can enhance their personal qualities.
Fan also encouraged more reading activities in diverse forms for Liaoning residents.
During this year’s festival, activities including reading salons, lectures, interviews with renowned writers, book sales and exhibitions, and publications of new books will be held.
Digital reading services such as online reading of e-books and VR (virtual reality) reading will also be provided for the residents.
