The Zhejiang government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China COSCO Shipping Corp Ltd in Hangzhou on April 25 in order to advance the construction of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port and to propel the province's marine economy.
Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, a super-port formed in 2015 after the merger of ports in Ningbo and neighboring Zhoushan, two coastal cities in Zhejiang, is currently the busiest in the world with a cargo throughput of 1 billion in 2017.
According to the agreement, the two parties will strengthen cooperation in fields like logistics supply chains, marine economy, port shipping, international markets, new energy, modern shipping services, and advanced equipment manufacturing.
China COSCO Shipping Corp Ltd, the country's largest shipping company in terms of container vessels, will further increase its investment in Zhejiang province with joint efforts to promote the development of "green ports, green shipping, and smart shipping".
