Hohhot looks to support women in business

The city of Hohhot has enacted initiatives to encourage female entrepreneurship and foster a better environment for female entrepreneurs over the past few years.

In 2005, the regional and municipal Women's Federation worked with each other to build a business incubator in Xincheng district to serve female entrepreneurs. 

The incubator is committed to supporting women in business, especially female college students' entrepreneurship –– through comprehensive approaches that address major barriers such as access to finance and policies.

According to the incubator, there are 58 female-led enterprises, offering more than 500 vacancies to female college students.

Inner Mongolia autonomous region also launched policy to offer financial support to female entrepreneurs.

According to the policy, female college students who start a business within five years of graduation will receive a subsidy of 10,000 yuan ($1,584).

Over the past two years, the government has handed out 576,000 yuan to support female-led start-ups.
