Yixing's general airport to break ground in third quarter

Wuxi Dingshu General Airport will begin construction in the third quarter of this year in Dingshu town, Yixing, costing a total of 450 million yuan ($71 million).

According to Jiangsu provincial policy on general airports, which requires 1.25 general airports per 10,000 square kilometers, four general airports are planned for construction in Wuxi during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).

Apart from general flying missions such as personal flights and passenger and cargo transportation, general airports also support special flying missions, including business travel, air travel, air performance, aerial photography, air mapping and agricultural care.

Another airport, Huaxi General Airport, has already begun operating in Jiangyin city, and the three other forthcoming airports will be built in Jiangyin city, Mashan and Xishan district, Wuxi.

Wuxi Dingshu General Airport will be a general aviation industry airport. The other four general airports will focus on air travel related to agriculture, forestry, fisheries and other industries, as well as travel flight and private pilot license training.

The new airports will allow air support projects, such as air monitoring, air command, emergency rescue, medical care, traffic management and fire extinguishing, to be carried out more efficiently,

Dornier Seawings Company will station its amphibious aircraft construction project in Dingshu General Airpark as well.
