Founded in Shanghai in 2008, Cathay Insurance Co Ltd is the mainland's first Taiwan-funded property insurance company jointly funded by Cathay Life Insurance Co Ltd and Cathay Century Insurance Co Ltd. In 2016, Ant Financial Services Group joined as its strategic investor and later became its controlling stakeholder.
