Over 4,000 participants completed the running competition of the Haikou stop on April 22 which was held to celebrate Hainan's 30th anniversary of building up the province and the special economic zone.
The event aimed to promote deep integration of sports, culture and tourism, reveal locals' positive mental outlook, and develop a fitness-for-all sports brand.
The Haikou stop arranged various routes for a 10-km individual group, 5-km individual experience group, 5-km lovers group, and 3-km parent-child group, as well as a square matrix group. Running through tourist attractions and landmark architecture such as Wanlyuyuan Garden and Haikou Bay, participants appreciated the unique charm of Haikou and took note of the city's development achievements.
As Hainan's top level running activity with the largest scale, highest participation degree and strongest interactivity, the competition will be hosted in over 10 major cities and counties in the province to realize mass mobilization and fitness.
The activity was supported by the Hainan Provincial Party Committee Publicity Department, the Hainan Tourism Development Commission and the Hainan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions. Joint organizers included the Department of Culture, Radio, Television, Publication and Sports of Hainan Province, Hainan Daily Press Group and governments of local cities and counties.
