Sanmenxia city in Henan province hosted the 2018 China (Sanmenxia) International Mushroom New Products and Technology Expo & Rare Morel Industry Development Forum on April 11.

With the theme "new era, new mushrooms, and new deeds", the three-day event attracted more than 1,000 people to its opening ceremony and other activities. More than 300 enterprises exhibited and sold their latest edible-mushroom-related products, such as raw and auxiliary materials, production equipment and deep-processing products.

Participants discussed topics such as supply-side structural reform of the edible mushroom industry, poverty relief through industrial development, market circulation, and the development of different varieties of edible mushrooms. In-depth discussions were also held regarding the application of the latest technologies to create new edible mushroom products, the development of a characteristic town and recycling leisure agriculture, and the construction of a rural complex of edible mushrooms.

The expo also selected the 10 most creative products, 10 most creative achievements and the 10 products with the most "artistic spirit", aiming to promote new technology and products, improve the competitiveness of enterprises, and cultivate creativity in the edible mushroom industry.

The annual expo began in 2000 and has become a platform for enterprises from home and abroad to promote products, share information and technology, and look for cooperation opportunities.

The expo has gained more international influence with the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. Guests from foreign countries, such as Thailand, Australia and Canada, attended the expo this year in search of cooperation opportunities with Chinese enterprises. Many domestic enterprises also developed new products targeting international markets along the Belt and Road.
