Xiamen Torch High-Tech Industrial Development Zone raked in a whopping 241.7 billion yuan ($38.4 billion) from its digital economy, accounting for 85 percent of the high-tech zone's overall revenue in 2017, Xiamen Daily reported on April 19.
The high-tech zone focuses on eight major digital industries: flat-panel displays, computer and communication equipment, integrated circuits, big data and artificial intelligence, digital cultural innovation, e-commerce, mobile internet and smart cities.
All eight industries have established a complete industrial chain, making this industrial zone one of the few in China that encompasses all fields of digital economy.
In addition, its integrated industry, animation and games industry, and e-commerce industry rank fifth, seventh and ninth in China, respectively.
In recent years, Xiamen Torch High-tech Industrial Development Zone has dedicated itself to creating a world-class business climate and developing core technologies to attract more renowned enterprises, according to the head of the high-tech zone's management committee.
As of 2017, the zone is home to 658 high-tech enterprises, and five more listed enterprises have settled in the zone recently, bumping the total number of such enterprises up to 13.
