A Hong Kong delegation led by Henry Tang, president of the Federation of HK Jiangsu Community Organizations, visited Shanghai on April 16.
The delegation was composed of members of Hong Kong's Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai-related organizations.
Li Qiang, Party secretary of Shanghai, met the delegation and emphasized those organizations' support of Shanghai's economic and social development and their positive role in promoting cooperation and exchanges between Hong Kong and the mainland, particularly the Yangtze River Delta region.
Li introduced Shanghai's goal of developing into an international economic, financial, trade, shipping, and scientific and technological innovation center and a modern metropolis with global influence.
To achieve that goal, Shanghai is keen on high-quality development as well as building up its "Four Brands" - "Shanghai Service", "Made in Shanghai", "Shopping in Shanghai", and "Shanghai Culture".
Li hoped that cooperation between the two cities in finance, economy, trade, culture, and youth exchanges could be deepened and welcomed more related Hong Kong organizations to contribute to the development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
Tang said that Hong Kong, gaining support from the motherland and opening to the world, has maintained prosperity and stability over the past four decades. The city has also built close ties with Shanghai.
Tang agreed with Li to deepen cooperation in various fields and promote mutual development.
