The government of Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, signed cooperative agreements with the Huawei Software Technology Co in Shenzhen during a recent visit to Guangdong province.
Yun Guangzhong, Party secretary of Hohhot, led the two-day visit which started on April 12.
The delegation toured headquarters of Huawei and Alibaba Group in Shenzhen and Hangzhou to learn more about each company and further promote the development of Hohhot's cloud computing data center. Delegates also learned about Huawei's automatic production line and Alibaba's innovative business model on visits to corporate headquarters, industrial parks and Alibaba's Xixi Campus.
They also held talks with management staff including Yang Ruikai, vice-president of Huawei, and Zhou Ming, vice-president of Alibaba, to explore further opportunities for cooperation.
Yun Guangzhong spoke of Inner Mongolia's accelerated steps toward building a national comprehensive big data test area.
Yun added that Hohhot, a node city along areas involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, boasts numerous industrial advantages and is well prepared for the arrival of cloud computing and big data.
He noted that Hohhot was looking forward to cooperating with Huawei and Alibaba for mutual gain.
The two enterprises could collaborate in expanding their reach into Northwest China, even Russia and Mongolia, he said.
Representatives of Huawei and Alibaba expressed interest in cooperative ventures, noting that Hohhot's favorable investment environment and policies will provide more opportunities for mutual cooperation, and that both enterprises could make full use of their technological and service advantages to promote the city's economic development.
The governments of Hohhot's Horinger New Area and Xincheng district also signed contracts with Huawei for cooperation in cloud computing.
