The opening ceremony of the 12th China Henan International Investment & Trade Fair was held at the Zhengzhou International Conference & Exhibition Center on April 17.
Sanmenxia's delegation, led by An Wei, deputy secretary of the municipal Party committee and mayor of Sanmenxia city, signed 29 contracts worth a total of 12.28 billion yuan ($1.95 billion) at the fair .
With a focus on "openness, innovation, cooperation and mutual benefit", the three-day event includes product display, summits, promotional activities, and business negotiations, among other things.
More than 1,400 people attended the opening ceremony, including government officials from the United Nations, Germany, Canada, Ukraine and Ethiopia, representatives from the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce of China, representatives from 129 of the top 500 enterprises and experts and scholars from renowned institutions and colleges.

Sanmenxia signed 29 contracts at the conference, including 15 projects in the manufacturing industry, six in the service industry, five industrial projects, two in the agricultural industry and one designed to attract capital and talents.
The city had two display areas at the conference - one for agricultural products with local characteristics and one for cross-border e-commerce. Twenty-nine companies displayed around 100 products, attracting many visitors.
In recent years, Sanmenxia has emphasized the development of regional agriculture and Internet economy. Currently, the annual export value of apples and edible mushrooms is 2 billion yuan, a major engine for the rapid growth of Sanmenxia's export industry. In 2017, the trade volume of cross-border e-commerce reached 2.77 billion yuan, an increase of 36 percent over the same period in 2016.
