In order to build a smarter city and provide better lives for its citizens, Shenzhen is planning to offer free WiFi service in all public areas with high visitor traffic, according to Hu Xiaoqing, deputy director of Shenzhen's economic, trade and information commission.
The move is part of the city's goal to increase new-type smart city construction, which is designed to provide more convenience to local residents by offering better government services, public services, smart public security systems and high-grade urban operation management systems by 2020.
