About 2,202 runners from home and abroad participated in a trans-provincial marathon co-hosted by Shanghai and Zhejiang province on April 15.
The event consisted of a half marathon and a fun run. The half marathon was divided into three groups – men's, women's, and team. The fun run offered two routes – 8 kilometers and 3 kilometers.
Runners could enjoy rural landscapes of different cities and provinces, because they left Shanghai and arrived in Zhejiang after running 1.8 kilometers and returned to Shanghai after running 9.5 kilometers.
Two thirds of the way along the half marathon route, nearly 1,000 old farm tools and utensils were exhibited to arouse people's rural memories.
Shanghai's Langxia town and Zhejiang's Guangchen town are adjacent to each other. They aim to join hands to create a green ecological corridor and a rural marathon town suited to everyday life, work and travel.
This trans-provincial marathon helps enhance exchanges between the two towns and also creates a unique regional name card.
