Cui Li attends a theme conference on “experience sharing of population immigration, urbanization and achieving sustainable development goals” on April 9.
Cui Li, vice-minister of the National Health Commission (NHC) attended the 51st session of the UN Commission on Population and Development in New York, and visited EU headquarters from April 8 to 15.
Cui delivered a speech at the conference, introducing the balanced population development strategy of the Chinese government and put forward three proposals for global cooperation on population movements and sustainable development.
She also attended a theme conference on “experience sharing of population immigration, urbanization and achieving sustainable development goals” co-organized by the NHC and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), where she met with Natalia Kanem, executive director of UNFPA and John Wilmoth, director of the population division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
In a follow-up visit to Europe, Cui met with Vytenis Andriukaitis, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety.
They exchanged ideas on health development strategy, antibiotic resistance and tobacco control, and had further discussion on construction of human resources in health, population immigration and healthy aging at the 2018 China-EU Health Dialogue.
