Meeting to discuss preparation work for 2018 CIFIT

The liason department of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT)'s organizing committee held its first meeting for the 2018 CIFIT on April 9 to discuss the invitation of businessmen.

The 2018 CIFIT is expected to be held in Xiamen, Fujian province from Sept 8 to 11.

The Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs, the executive agency for the 2018 CIFIT and the general liason group of the liason department, reported the highlights, preliminary preparations, and overall plan for attracting businessmen.

Han Jingyi, deputy mayor of Xiamen, is pleased with the liason department's work.

He suggested that the 2018 CIFIT should be centered around the Belt and Road Initiative and the achievements of the BRICS Summit held in September 2017. He also said it should serve as a platform for advancing and deliberating on the trend of international investment, as well as releasing authoritative information.

The organizing committee should ask China's commerce department to invite important foreign businessmen to the CIFIT and also strive to attract more professional businessmen, Han said at the meeting.

The 2017 CIFIT witnessed the signing of 1,577 investment projects worth 532.7 billion yuan ($81.0 billion) and attracted more than 100,000 domestic and foreign business representatives from 107 countries and regions, 4,000 domestic and foreign enterprises, nearly 700 business groups, and 40 multinational corporations.
