Fairmont Peace Hotel, Shanghai
An iconic historical landmark of Shanghai once renowned as "Top Building in the Far East", the five-star luxury Fairmont Peace Hotel boasts a history of more than eight decades and has undergone three years' thorough renovations before re-opening its doors in 2010. Characterized by a giant green copper sheath roof design, the renovated hotel now features 270 deluxe guestrooms and suites with artistic decorations and contemporary amenities, among which the most notable are Nine Nations Suites, consisting of nine elegant suites decorated in nine countries' distinctive styles. Except for the suites of India, England, China and America which maintain the original styles of the former Peace Hotel, the rest are re-designed based on their original conceptions. Equally famous is the Sassoon Presidential Suite spreading the entire top floor, which is the erstwhile residence of the hotel's flamboyant creator, Victor Sassoon.
Fairmont Peace Hotel also features six high-end restaurants and lounges, not only serving authentic delicacies around the world, but also inviting guests to the one-of-a-kind performances of its legendary elderly jazz band. Besides, there is a unique Fairmont Lifestyle Cuisine scheme that prepares special meals for health sensitive guests to satisfy their different eating habits. Additional facilities include the famed willowstream spa center and 15 ballrooms, conference halls and salons of different sizes, including a rooftop terrace, available for business meetings, gatherings, weddings and banquets.
