Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region saw marked growth over a two-month period from January to February, according to documents released by the city’s statistics bureau. The added value of industries above a designated scale in the city saw year-on-year growth of 13 percent.
This most recent figure is a 6.5 percentage point gain on Inner Mongolia’s average, a fact that helped Baotou rank second among the autonomous region’s 12 prefectural cities and leagues.
The added value of the five pillar industries saw year-on-year growth of 23.6 percent. The electricity industry reported the fastest growth among the five pillars at 27.9 percent, followed by the iron and steel industry at 17.7 percent growth.
