Translation creates international cooperation

The Jilin Translators Association, which intends to cultivate translation talents, was established at Jilin Huaqiao University of Foreign Languages on March 31.

More than 180 professional translation experts in Jilin province attended the launching ceremony. Qin He, president of Jilin Huaqiao University of Foreign Languages, was appointed as chairwoman of the Association.

Translation is a significant carrier for culture promotion and is a measurement of the soft power of a nation. The translation association aims to promote cultural exchanges and international communication and create a positive connection between the translation industry and the university to foster talents and better serve the public.

Qin said that in the next five years, the Association will take advantage of multi-lingual translation to support the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and contribute to the economic growth of the province.

She also stressed that the committee of the association will build it into a talent cultivation platform and a place to maintain translators' rights.

As a foreign language and international affairs talents cultivation base, Jilin Huaqiao University of Foreign Languages offers courses in 13 foreign languages including English, German, French and Spanish.

The university also cooperates with more than 120 colleges in over 20 countries and regions.
