Zhanjiang pledged a better service delivery to assist local medium, small and micro-sized enterprises in cultivating their own brand with the establishment of a dedicated development promotion association on April 9.

In recent years, medium, small and micro-sized enterprises have played an increasingly significant role in economic development and job creation in Zhanjiang. Although small in scale, they make up more than 60 percent of the city's GDP, 70 percent of tax revenue and 80 percent of employment, according to the Zhanjiang Economic & Information Bureau.

There are now nearly 40,000 medium, small and micro-sized enterprises across the city. After almost six months' promotion, 152 such enterprises have already been inducted as association members. Of them, 122 are from the manufacturing industry, accounting for more than 80 percent of the total.

As a bridge between government and enterprises, the association will provide professional and comprehensive services, ranging from policy consultation to guidance on market expansion and fund-raising. Training sessions will also be held to help enterprises improve their capability of management and technical innovation.
