A screening event for the third International Micro Film Competition, a part of the annual Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, was held March 28 in Haikou city, Hainan province.
The annual competition is jointly hosted by Haikou city's publicity department, the International Promotion Commission of the China Film Association, the China Educational Television Station and a cultural entertainment company in Hainan.
The event drew more than 1,500 people, including filmmakers, media and local movie fans.
First held in 2016, the annual contest has been the only official screening event for micro films in China. This year, more than 7,000 entries have been received since November 2017, when the contest was announced.
More than 200 international entries from 27 countries and regions were included.

A total of 173 outstanding works and 15 outstanding organizations were selected by experts in mid-March after three rounds of evaluations.
A forum about the development of China's television and film in an online environment was also held during the Haikou event.
