Cold weather didn’t keep tourists away from Ordos during Qingming Festival on April 5, with 430,000 visitors earning the city 210 million yuan in tourism revenues, according to a recent report by a local media organization.
Visitors were able to experience indoor activities, local folk customs, and take part in traditional spring outings, with more than 5,000 tourists visiting the Genghis Khan Mausoleum.
In recent years Ordos has diversified its offerings and now offers a variety of activities for visitors, for example, this year, Hanggin Banner held a music festival and a local wildlife park brought in four elephants for the holiday period.
The local tourism authority has also worked hard to promote the city, including on social media, and strives to provide tourists with useful and up-to-date information so that they can plan their visits properly.
