Xiamen is a truly beautiful coastal city. If you have been to Xiamen, you probably went to Gulangyu Island and the Island Ring Road.

Unlike famous overly crowded scenic spots, Wuyuanwan Wetland Park is not so well known. But it is still definitely worth a trip.

Best time to travel: spring and summer

How to get there: visitors can take Bus No 182 (SM City Square – Wuyuanwan Wetland Park station), 102 (Qianpu bus terminal - Wuyuanwan Wetland Park station) and 6 (Xiamen Railway Station – Wuyuanwan Operation Center station).

Wuyuanwan Wetland Park, as one of Xiamen's Wuyuanwan area development projects, covers an area of 85 hectares, equivalent to half the area of Gulangyu Island, and is the largest park and wetland eco-park in Xiamen. Thus, it is known as the "lungs" of Xiamen. Every March, many egrets build their nests and breed here, making it an important destination for migratory birds.

Wuyuan Riverside Hotel is located in the bay where swans swim and bulrush sways in the wind. The hotel's most notable feature is that it is not luxurious and glittering, but rather inconspicuous and plain. It is built in a Fujian Chinese style, and perfectly complements the natural landscape.
