The Huixian Mountain Scenic Zone in Yizhou
Huixian Mountain, also known as North Mountain and Fairy Meeting Mountain, was upgraded to a national AAAA-level scenic spot in 2015. It is located in Bailongshan Park, 1 kilometer from downtown Yizhou district. The mountain is said to resemble a male lion. From the peak, climbers can see the center of urban Yizhou in the distance.
"Standing on the Fairy Meeting Mountain to Look into the Distance" is the premiere experience offered by the Eight Scenic Sights of Yizhou and has welcomed tourists since the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907).
At the peak lies a huge bird-shaped stone which appears to be spreading its wings. The Chinese characters Qi Yun, meaning "riding the cloud", were inscribed on the stone during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). On a platform before the stone once stood the Qiyu Pavilion.
Another inscription on the cliffs contains three Chinese characters: Ji Gao Ming, meaning "Extraordinary Intelligence and Cunning". It was written by Li Ji, a military commander in the Ming Dynasty.
Where a television relay station now stands visitors can also see a stone tablet identifying where Xu Jiabin, magistrate of the Qingyuan Prefecture during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) reported on his work. Other scenic spots in the area include the Lake of Heaven, the Sweet Spring, White Dragon Cave, One Hundred Sons Cave, Snowflake Cave, Deep Well Cave, Immortality Pill-Making Cliff, White Cloud Convent, the Platform for King Wing's Appointing Commanders and the Valley Bottom Temple.
