Guangdong General Hospital

Established in 1946, Guangdong General Hospital is the city's largest general hospital as well as one of the largest and most comprehensive in the country. The hospital has 5,251 employees and covers an area of 230,000 square meters with 2,852 inpatient beds. Over 1.1 million patients are discharged each year from the hospital and 74,900 surgeries are performed there. The hospital has six outpatient departments and its outpatient volume was over four million people in 2015.

The Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences, which co-works with Guangdong General Hospital, was set up in May 2008. It has several affiliated medical and educational institutions, including the Guangdong Institute of Cardiovascular Disease, the Guangdong Institute of Geriatrics, the Guangdong Mental Health Center, the Guangdong Institute of Lung Cancer, the Guangdong Institute of Eye Disease Control and the Guangdong Institute of Neuroscience.
