A Wuxi public welfare activity and volunteer team were honored as one of China's 100 Best Volunteer Service Projects and one of China's 100 Best Volunteer Teams, respectively, according to an announcement at a forum on volunteer service in Beijing on April 3.
Representatives from Wuxi attended the forum to receive the awards and also participated in an interview on volunteer service.
A total of 11 central departments have been initiating a national selection since October 2017. The selection process includes a recommendation, online voting and an expert review before selecting the 100 winners in each of the four "TOP 100" categories, which include the top 100 most beautiful volunteers, top 100 best volunteer service projects, top 100 best volunteer teams, and top 100 most beautiful volunteer service communities.

Wuxi's monthly public welfare activity focuses on a different theme every month, mainly during key festivals. The organizing committee collects suggestions from the public via their official website, Weibo and WeChat.
A number of volunteer projects have received widespread acclaim, including one that presented New Year blessings, convenient services, employment opportunities, and books to migrant workers returning home for Spring Festival in January, as well as the "Learning from Lei Feng" activity in March this year.
Wuxi currently has 13 national volunteer service models, ranking first in the province for the past three years.
