A photography exhibition showcasing abundant national intangible cultural heritage was held at Yantai Cultural Museum on March 30.
The event was devoted to promoting national intangible cultural heritage, exposing Yantai's local culture, fish lantern culture to visitors across China.
The exhibition will last for 14 days and was held as a follow-up activity of Yantai "Bajiao Cup" Fish Lantern Festival Photography Competition.
At the opening ceremony, the organizer announced awarded artworks where fifty pieces were awarded as selected award, 30 works won the excellence award, artworks of 10 photographers took the third place, works of five won the second place and Qiao Guangxian's "Chinese dragon" won the first prize.
A total of 96 awarded artworks capturing great joys and happiness that local fish men achieved during the Fish Lantern Festival are displayed.
At the opening ceremony, a documentary applying virtual reality technology was also played to tell audiences what the festival is all about.
The Fish Lantern Festival, with a history of more than 500 years, is unique to coastal fishermen in the Yantai Development Zone, and was listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2008. In February 2015, having been awarded the honorary title of "Hometown of Chinese Fish Lantern Culture", the Yantai.
