A memorial ceremony for martyrs was held at the 9.18 Historical Museum in Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on April 5, which marked Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb Sweeping Day.
The activity was organized by the museum and Shenyang youth press association, with the aim of educating residents about Chinese history and traditions.
More than 500 people participated in the activity, including students from over 30 schools in the city and their parents, as well as soldiers and volunteers from universities.
The museum has held the memorial ceremony for nine consecutive years.
During this year’s Qingming Festival, residents can participate in the activity by leaving flowers at the museum and paying tribute online to martyrs.
This year marks the 87th anniversary of the September 18th Incident of 1931 when Japanese forces attacked Shenyang, and student volunteers offered guidance to visitors at the museum during the festival.
