Harbin Electric International Co Ltd (HEI) announced that it will cooperate with Pakistan-based Jamshoro Electricity Power Co Ltd to maintain two 660mW supercritical coal-fired power plants over a five-year period, on March 29.

The project will be known as the “Jamshoro project”, and the contract involves supplying equipment for civil engineering, installation, testing, and trial operations, as well as training and standard maintenance issues.

HEI is known for its early research and development of power-generation equipment, and is part of the larger HE Group –– China’s leading company for power generation contracts and exports of related equipment.

The signing of the deal is part of the industry’s response to the Belt and Road Initiative, with HEI taking Chinese technology and expertise to another country involved in China’s plans to expand trade along the historic Silk Road.
