Beijinglu Commercial Pedestrian Street located in Guangzhou's city center is believed to be the most prosperous business center of the city. As many as 40,000 people pass through the street per day with the number exceeding 1 million people during holidays.
There are some historic sites, such as the relics of Fanyu City of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), the Palace of Nanyue State of the Han Dynasty (202 BC-220 AD) and imperial gardens of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period (AD 907-960). A dozen department stores, such as Xindaxin and Taibai Shopping Mall, are dotted along the street. People can also sample a vast range of cuisines, including steamed vermicelli rolls, desserts and roast pigeon. Some traditional and well-known restaurants have also set up branches on the street, such as Taiping Guan Restaurant and Guangzhou Restaurant.
