Yangzhou marks college-government cooperation on horticulture

Yangzhou University and the Yangzhou Gardening and Greening Bureau signed a five-year cooperative agreement on April 3, bringing the combination of colleges and local government to a new level. 

With a purpose of developing the local landscape and horticulture industry and promoting it to wider markets, the two sides agreed to set up research teams, cultivate new varieties, and carry out academic exchanges and cultural activities. 

Wang Jun, a local official, said he was eager to see the two sides' cooperation turn from academic breakthroughs to practical achievements. 

A group of eight students from Yangzhou University were named "city park keepers" at the ceremony. They will take charge of Yangzhou's urban parks, especially the open ones, in terms of daily management, green space conservation, facility maintenance, and prevention of improper behavior by member of the public.
