Dongguan Street, an important thoroughfare of Yangzhou in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), is 1,122 meters long. Originally paved with long stone flags, this street has been an arterial road traversing Yangzhou from west to east since the Tang Dynasty (AD618-907).
Dongguan means eastern city gate or the original Lijin Gate. The ancient street is parallel with the moat and, with elegant buildings, white walls, and dark tiles, gives visitors a sense of harmony and order.
