Dalian city in Liaoning province recently opened its first digital health demonstration center in Yunfeng Community in Baiyun Street, Xigang district, to provide free mental health services for local residents, especially the elderly.
The digital health demonstration center is on the third floor of Yunfeng elderly care community center, located at the intersection of Shengli Street and Baishan Street. Covering around a dozen square meters, the demonstration center is well decorated and equipped with self-help equipment, and various medical devices. The center has had success treating people with depression, according to staff members.
The center is one part of a livelihood project to promote services for the elderly, according to the civil affairs bureau of Xigang district. It cooperates with Dalian Fanyu Psychological Consulting Co to provide professional services for local residents, especially the elderly, women and children.
It also tries to build psychological profiles of its patients and provides counseling to residents based on questionnaires they have filled in, according to Tang Feng, director of the center.
Xigang district works on five forms of elderly-care services integrating treatment and convalescence, including cooperation between nursing services for the elderly and the community health agency and hospice care services, according to Zhang Yuan, head of the civil affairs bureau of Xigang district.
The demonstration center provides a free service and one or two annual sessions of screening for the public based on their files, in order to improve mental healthcare, especially for the elderly, added Zhang.
