VR imaging week to be held in Qingdao

Qingdao, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, announced on March 30 that it will stage the country's first international Virtual Reality (VR) week from June 23 to 27.

The China (Qingdao) VR Image Week will hold a series of events, including a VR summit, matchmaking between entrepreneurs and investors, a VR work exhibition, a VR experimental space, a VR technology symposium as well as the opening of a 4D dome theater.

Hundreds of renowned VR producers, film directors and pundits, artists, designers, scientists, writers and engineers will gather in Qingdao to weigh in on various topics on how VR technology will revolutionize the film and TV industry.

In addition, the organizers are soliciting outstanding VR works from around the world, and have set five awards in different categories, with goals of providing a feast for the eyes and ears, as well as cultivating VR talents.

"We'd like to create a world-class communication platform in the field of VR imaging, this platform can not only collect good VR works for Qingdao, but also provide a certain size of VR talent pool to keep Qingdao's film and television industry is always in the forefront of China and even the world", an official of Qingdao bureau of culture, broadcasting, television, press and publication said.

This event will fill the gap that the field of VR image technology lacks of a truly international, authoritative and authoritative evaluation platform. Meanwhile, it will expand the brand advantage of Qingdao as "film city", promote the development of Qingdao's film and television industry towards the goal of 100 billion-level industry, and continue to expand the foreign exchange of Qingdao film and television culture to expand the city's international influences.
