Shanghai is dedicated to turning its fashion week into the world's fifth most important, ranking only after the "Big Four": Paris, Milan, London and New York.
Shanghai Fashion Week has been held for 15 consecutive years and has become an important platform and driving force for the city's fashion industry. It has helped form a complete fashion industrial chain in the city.
The Shanghai Fashion Week 2018 AW opened on March 28 and will run until April 3.
"I believe Shanghai has the potential to become the world's fifth fashion week, and China is a very surprising market," said Carlo Capasa, founder of Italian fashion house Costume National, at the opening ceremony.
Capasa also mentioned that now more and more designers chose to work in both China and Europe.
To increase its influence in the global fashion industry, Shanghai seeks cooperation with top international fashion colleges, builds maker space for designers, and forges closer ties with first-rated global fashion resources.
