Dalian University of Foreign Languages (DUFL) sits in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian. Formerly known as Dalian School of Japanese Language, it was officially founded in 1964 with the support of the late Chinese premier, Zhou Enlai. Aimed at educating professionals such as foreign affairs officials, translators and interpreters, DUFL is currently under the jurisdiction of the Liaoning Education Department. Across half a century of growth, and while upholding its motto of “Intellectualis et Eclecticus”, DUFL has become a comprehensive multidisciplinary university for international studies, offering art, economics, management, engineering, law and pedagogy programs, in addition to teaching a wide range of languages.
DUFL is comprised of 20 schools or departments and 21 research centers, hosts more than 1100 faculty members, and has an enrollment of over 15,000 degree candidates, including undergraduate, graduate and vocational students.
DUFL offers 33 undergraduate programs, of which 24 lead to graduate programs. Students can also pursue a doctoral program in Diplomacy Studies.
As one of the largest international centers of instruction in Northeast China, DUFL attaches great importance to international exchanges and pursues these in a variety of ways. It has entered into partnerships with over 180 tertiary institutions and 20 civil society organizations from close to 30 countries.
