Xiamen to hold 14th Strait Travel Fair

The 14th Strait Travel Fair is set to take place from April 20 to 22 in Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center, according to the press conference recently held in Xiamen.

This year's Strait Travel Fair plans to cover 60,000 square meters with 2,500 booths, seeing a 16 percent increase year-on-year, Yang Qi, head of the coastal city's tourism development commission, said at the press conference.

The fair is expected to attract 20,000 visitors this year and 21 Chinese provinces and autonomous regions. Approximately 40 other countries and regions have also signed up for the fair.

The activities held during the fair can be summarized as "Two plus two plus five plus N", said the director.

The first "two" signifies the two tourism-themed expos, namely, the 14th Strait Travel Fair and the 2018 China (Xiamen) International Leisure Tourism Expo.

The second "two" refers to the two forums, including 2018 China (Xiamen) Ocean Tourism Forum and 2018 Cross-Straits and Hongkong, Macao Guide Forum.

The "five" signifies five major tourism promotional activities and the "N" refers to other supporting activities, such as the opening ceremony of Xiamen-Jinmen Tourism Festival, a City Runner Challenge and other exhibitors' promotional activities.

Besides, Sanya from China's southmost province Hainan would be the fair's first guest city of honor and the two tourism cities will work together in expanding their foreign markets and share each other's customers from Russia and Southeast Asia in the near future.
