Yangzhou carries out International Day of Forests activities

March 21 is International Day of Forests, as affirmed by the United Nations. Based on the idea of "Beautiful scenery is gold and silver mines", Yangzhou is determined to launch large-scale afforestation and promote high-quality ecological construction.

To date, Yangzhou has completed afforestation of 15.3 square kilometers, 70 percent of the target set, and planted 4.3 million trees, 65 percent of the goal.

Forestry professionals suggested that the relevant department should seize the opportunity to carry out the afforestation project during the prime time of spring, ensuring the smooth implementation of the task. 

What's more, the relevant department should immediately look back at those trees which have been newly planted and give them good care to guarantee a high rate of survival.

Spring is the season for tree planting, and for tree cutting. Therefore, the forestry department has to strengthen supervision and management to prevent excessive deforestation and illegal use of forests.
