Delegates from New Zealand's royal society visit Xiamen

A three-man delegation from New Zealand's royal society was invited to visit Xiamen from March 24 to 26, according to the city's foreign and overseas Chinese affairs office.

Led by Keith Murray, president of the royal society's Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR), they visited the technology office of Criminal Investigation Branch of the coastal city's public security agency and the entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau.

Cooperation on forensic technologies, DNA detection and food safety inspection was discussed during the visit and they all agreed to establish long-term exchanges mechanism in technologies and personnel.

Head of Xiamen's public security agency said that their cooperation is sure to improve Xiamen's technology in DNA detection and food safety inspection, help solve crimes and promote foreign trade between New Zealand and the city.

ESR, affiliated to the New Zealand Government, offers scientific research, commercial tests and lab based services to New Zealand and other countries.

The institute tops the world in food security and quality, hydroscience, bioscience, radiology and forensic medicine.
